Today’s mission is to assign clear ownership to every dataset you’ve uncovered.
Data without an owner becomes data without accountability - and that’s when errors, duplicates, and outdated information creep back in.
Your goal today is to map who owns what, who maintains it, and how often it’s reviewed.
Ownership turns chaos into control.
No matter how clean your data is today, it will drift back into disorder unless someone is responsible for keeping it healthy.
Most data issues aren’t caused by bad tools - they’re caused by orphaned data: files or systems that no one feels responsible for. 🏚️
By establishing ownership now, you’re creating the human layer of your data integrity system - the layer that ensures accountability, continuity, and clarity across teams. 👥
Pull up your Day 1 list of all datasets.
For each source, assign three key roles:
If you’re unsure who fits where, list the potential owner and confirm later.
Reach out to the relevant team members with a short message like:
“Hey [Name], I’m mapping our core datasets for the AI Readiness Sprint.
Can you confirm if you’re responsible for maintaining [Dataset Name]?
If not, who should own it?”
Note responses directly in your Data Inventory or add an “Ownership Confirmed” checkbox next to each dataset. ✔️
For each dataset, agree on a maintenance rhythm. 📆
Document this in a “Review Cycle” column - it creates a simple, automated rhythm for keeping data current.
Use a quick chart (or Airtable view) to visualise ownership. 📊
Columns might include:
This visual makes accountability transparent and easy to audit.
Open Your Interactive Workbook
To get the most out of each module in this Accelerator, make sure you have your Interactive Reflection Workbook open as you work through today’s exercise. This is where you’ll capture insights, document what you uncover, and track your progress throughout the 7-Day Sprint. Use it alongside every lesson, your workbook is the place where learning turns into clarity, decisions, and real momentum.
